People embarking on last minute holidays in southern Spain this month could have the opportunity to seek out some memorable experiences on the Costa del Sol.

The Malaga Fair is due to take place in the fairground of El Real and nearby venues from August 12th to 21st.

Arranged to celebrate the capture of the city by Catholic monarchs in August 1487, the event features a varied line-up of activities including competitions and concerts.

An official speech marking the beginning of the festivities will take place on the beaches of La Malagueta, while the port will provide the setting for a fireworks display.

Britons visiting Malaga during summer holidays in Spain can also pay a visit to the park and Plaza de la Marina square, which will host live performances and other events.

Culture vultures can head to local museums during their trip to see some modern art and learn more about Pablo Picasso, who was born in the city.
