Brits should say "hola" to locals when on holiday

A family holiday will always be a little easier and a little more enjoyable if you can speak a few words in the native tongue of the nation you are visiting.

And according to one expert there is no better place to try your skills in a new language than Spain.

Chris Marshall, founder of Almerimarlife.com, says that while there is a large number of British expats in Spain, being able to communicate with the locals is still advisable as it enable them to help you much easier.

“As a rule, the Spanish will appreciate you a lot more if you make the effort to try and integrate,” Mr Marshall noted.

He added that unfortunately too many people who go to Spain, either on holiday to live, spend their time in the English bars and cafes and do not attempt to mingle with the locals.

His comments come just weeks after a survey found that two-thirds of Brits abroad cannot speak a single word in a foreign language.
