Enjoy a 'bargain' holiday to Greece
Families planning to take a bargain break this summer have been advised to consider a
holiday in Greece.
Writing for the Daily Mail, Fred Mawer noted that the country's tourism industry is suffering this year due to recent industrial action.
However, he pointed out that the Greek government recently announced plans to compensate any travellers affected by strikes or unrest.
"How compensation would work is unclear, however. To minimise possible disruption, I'd simply steer clear of Athens (a good idea in peak summer anyway) and book a package instead of travelling independently," Mr Mawer commented.
He added that a self-catering
holiday could be a good idea for families looking to save money this summer as the price of food has dropped considerably since last year.
Speaking last month, Andrew Warner, a spokesman for travel provider Expedia, said
holidays to Greece are still in demand.
He claimed the country is popular due to the combination of great weather, fantastic beaches and ancient culture.
