New Gatwick flights to Greek island launch this month
Jetsetters planning on taking last minute
holidays to Greece this autumn might be pleased to hear that budget airline easyJet has launched a new Gatwick service to the island of Kefalonia.
The destination is the largest of the Ionian Islands and boasts golden beaches, picturesque mountain views and an underground lake that serves as a popular tourist attraction.
Visitors to the island can luxuriate in 12 hours of sunshine every day and have a look at ancient Roman ruins and monasteries.
Travellers may recognise part of the island from the book and film Captain Corelli's Mandolin, which was set on Kefalonia.
Paul Simmons, UK director of easyJet, commented: "Our new route to Kefalonia from Gatwick adds even more choice for passengers seeking an easy and affordable sunshine getaway next year.
"Greece has long been a favourite for sun worshippers and Kefalonia is among the pick of the Mediterranean's most desirable getaways," he added.
The new
flights will go on sale on October 20th.
