Greece 'among top destinations for overseas weddings'
As well as being a popular destination for
cheap package holidays, Greece is among the top choices for British couples getting married overseas, according to a recent survey.
The Weddings Abroad & Honeymoons guide carried out a survey of some 1,600 future brides and grooms and found that Greece is one of the top three countries that respondents were considering for their big day.
Cyprus and Italy were also ranked in the top three.
Discussing the attraction of these destinations, Ursula Barzey, marketing director for Weddings Abroad & Honeymoons, pointed out that they boast good weather and nice scenery, which could also appeal to people planning
all inclusive holidays abroad.
"They remain popular as they are picturesque, relatively easy to get to and most often have better weather than you would get in the UK," she said.
"Also, whereas a wedding in the UK will cost on average around £20,000, a wedding at one of these destinations will be around £6,500, so quite a saving for a new couple starting out."
Other countries that are being considered by British couples planning to get married abroad include the US, Spain, France and Barbados.
