Explore a new attraction during Rhodes holidays
Britons planning
cheap holidays to Greece this summer will have the opportunity to visit a new attraction on the island of Rhodes.
A €100 million (£88 million) marina is due to open on the east side of the island's main town in June and will become fully operational in 2012.
According to the Rhodes Tourism Promotion Organisation, the complex will serve as a "five-star" visitor attraction and relieve congestion at the island's only existing yacht harbour, which is usually full of local and charter vessels.
The new marina will have the capacity to accommodate more than 400 craft, including the latest 'mega-yachts'.
Members of the public enjoying
holidays in Rhodes will be able to make use of onshore facilities including shops, restaurants, cafes, a spa and a landscaped promenade alongside the main pier.
The development is not the only project contributing to the regeneration of the island, with a new ring road connecting the marina to the international airport now 70 per cent complete.
Discussions are also underway regarding a shopping centre and five-star hotel in the area.
