Luxor safe for travellers, Foreign Office states
People hoping to book a cheap holiday to Egypt may be pleased to hear that the Foreign Office is advising tourists that it is safe for British Nationals to travel to Luxor.
The Foreign Office had, since January 28th, been advising travellers not to travel to the city unless it was essential.
It now states: "Based on the improved situation on the ground, we judge that it is now safe for British nationals to travel [to Luxor] ... given that the situation in Luxor is now calm and the city is functioning normally."
The government department reassured holidaymakers that the Embassy in Cairo and its Honorary Consul in Luxor had been keeping a close eye on the situation.
Tour guides held a demonstration in Cairo on Monday February 14th to persuade tourists to return to the Great Pyramids following the recent period of unrest in the country, the Telegraph recently reported.
