Egypt travel 'returning to normal'

Foreign tourists are returning to Egypt as the political situation in the country slowly improves, a minister has said.

Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour, the northern African nation's new minister for tourism, suggested that bookings for Egypt holidays are recovering after the revolution in January.

"For the return to normalcy, it requires a vigorous effort for the world to know that everything is back to normal in the country and rest assured of the maximum security," he was quoted by eTurbonews.com as saying.

The online travel news provider reported that the minister was in Rome along with Mohamed Abdel Gabbar, the director for the Egypt Tourism Office in Italy, as well as the new ambassador for Egypt in Italy.

Mr Nour said that tourism in Egypt should return to normal levels by September this year and holiday resorts such as those in Sharm el-Sheikh will be as popular as before.
