Hyatt Hotels has announced that it plans to open three new hotels in Saudi Arabia.

Currently the hoteliers have one hotel in the Middle Eastern nation – the Park Hyatt Marina Club and Spa, which opened in 2009.

But the three new hotels are part of the firms plans to take the total number to an eventual six.

“Expanding the number of Hyatt-branded hotels in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will be a significant step towards our goal of being the preferred brand for global travellers,” said Peter Norman, senior vice president for acquisitions and development for Hyatt International.

Majid Al Ibraham, chairman of the Naseel Holding Company, which will manage the hotels, added that the new plans have been greatly welcomed in the country and that the three hotels will be "very valuable addition to the two great cities of Riyadh and Jeddah”.

A report released by the World Tourism Organisation (WTO) showed that Saudi Arabia was visited by 10.9 million holidaymakers in 2010.
