Happiest holiday destinations revealed
Australia, South Africa and Canada have been named as the world's happiest destinations by British holidaymakers.
In a recent poll carried out by
flight search site Skyscanner, travellers were asked to assess countries in terms of accommodation, length of
flight, food, weather and motivation for the trip.
Despite the popularity of staycations, research revealed that Britons are happier when travelling abroad.
"Long haul-
holidays tend to be for longer periods of time and have greater impact because they are seen as more special than staying in the UK or catching
flights to Spain, for example," said psychologist Cliff Arnall.
Other destinations that made the top ten include Italy, France, Thailand, Greece and Portugal.
Of those polled, 69 per cent of people said they were happy with their last holiday to Spain or elsewhere.
Speaking recently, Bob Atkinson, an expert from Travelsupermarket.com, said holidaymakers should research their destinations before booking to ensure they are not disappointed.
