Cleanest and greenest destinations revealed
Environmentally-conscious holidaymakers may be interested to learn that Skyscanner has compiled a list of the world's greenest and cleanest destinations.
Switzerland topped the list, with its many mountains and lakes proving popular with eco-friendly travellers.
Other destinations where Brits can enjoy a green escape this year include Norway, Sweden and Finland.
"Finland's Lapland is one of Europe's last true areas of unspoiled wilderness, with vast swathes of forest and hundreds of pristine lakes, visitors can enjoy the midnight sun, stunning natural scenery and see bear and lynx," the website states.
Holidaymakers wanting to go further afield can head to Costa Rica, which is considered to be the "world's most natural conservation area".
According to Skyscanner, it offers a "diverse range of ecosystems and activities".
A recent study carried out by The Travel Foundation and ABTA - The Travel Association revealed that although the majority of people recycle plastic bottles at home, less than half do so when they take
