Brits 'too busy for summer 2010 holidays'

British workers are spending more time in work than they need to by not using up their allocated holiday time, it has been announced.

According to new research by British Tourism Week, the average worker either fails to take or carried forward seven days of paid leave each year, meaning that some may not be taking a summer 2010 holiday.

As many as 40 per cent of people stated that the reason they chose not to take a break was because they had too much work to do, while 31 per cent said they had simply not got round to it.

Bernard Donoghue, co-chair of British Tourism Week executive council, said: "Taking a holiday is good for the British economy, your health and a decent work-life balance."

Those who do decide to take a holiday may consider heading to Spain, with the country being the most searched for destination on flight site Skyscanner.
