Visit Abu Dhabi's first Blue Flag beach on a luxury holiday
Abu Dhabi has become the first destination in the Arabian Gulf to receive a Blue Flag for one of its beaches.
People planning
luxury holidays in the region can visit the Corniche to enjoy the water quality, facilities and services that led to the coastal area attaining the accolade.
Running for four miles between the Sheraton and Hilton hotels, the stretch of seafront boasts several attractions, including a cycling track, playgrounds for children, beach volleyball courts and a wakeboarding centre.
The Corniche and other popular
holiday attractions in Abu Dhabi will soon enjoy a boost in profile when the Volvo Ocean Race arrives in the emirate.
Mubarak Al Muhairi, director general of the local tourist board, said: "This award reflects the hard work Abu Dhabi has put into ensuring our beachfront is sustained to international standards for the enjoyment of residents and visitors alike.
"It's a cause of double celebration to secure Blue Flag status ahead of the arrival of the Volvo Ocean Race, as we're anticipating welcoming thousands of international visitors."
Britons considering
all inclusive holidays in the Middle East also have the option of visiting Dubai, which is home to the Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building.
