Package holidays 'still top for families'
Despite the growth in 'staycations' and independent travel in recent years,
package holidays to sun, sea and sand hotspots remain the most popular option for British families, according to recent research.
Travel add-ons provider
Holiday Extras carried out a poll of more than 2,200 consumers this month and found that package holidays are the top choice for 62 per cent of people.
Nearly half (45 per cent) of respondents said they appreciate the simplicity and convenience of trips of this kind, while 17 per cent said they are the cheapest option.
Some 30 per cent of the people polled said they prefer to arrange their own family holidays from scratch and eight per cent thought that travelling independently is more affordable.
Anthony Clarke Cowell, head of product innovation and merchandising at Holiday Extras, said: "As package holiday prices fall and the British summer looks like another washout, the traditional overseas family break is experiencing a revival."
