New York offers a fabulous experience for less than you might expect

Those who want to shop until they drop without breaking the bank this festive time should consider a trip to New York.

According to NYC & Company, New York City's official marketing, tourism and partnership organisation, a journey to the city that never sleeps is more affordable that people often think.

Marjan Inbar, communications director at NYC & Company, said that at the moment there are a great number of discounted promotions on that will allow you to enjoy a trip to Gotham without denting your wallet too much.

"We have a lot of extraordinary marketing campaigns, such as NYC Restaurant Week, which offers very affordable dining and three course meals for $35 (approximately £22.53) in a variety of restaurants," she stated.

"At the same time we have Broadway Week, which offers two tickets for one to pretty much most Broadway shows."

However, she added that for those that don't mind spending a pretty penny, New York has some of the most exclusive hotels, restaurants and stores in the world.

New York was recently voted as the world's best destination at the British Travel Awards.
