Last minute holidays to Thailand could be great for Christmas
Brits looking for
last minute holidays over Christmas might wish to head to Thailand for a combination of value and excitement.
The south-east Asian nation does not celebrate December 25th as a national
holiday and therefore most tourist attractions, bars and shops remain open.
This means holidaymakers can enjoy a fun-filled day exploring the exotic nation as they celebrate Christmas abroad.
Cheapflights.co.uk travel expert Nadine Hallak noted that Thailand is a fantastic place to spend the festive period and is unlikely to break the bank for those looking for bargains on
last minute holidays.
"No other country offers the amount of four and five-star hotels available for the cost of three-star accommodation elsewhere in the world," she explained.
The expert added that as Thailand is mainly Buddhist, the Christmas experience will be different to that in the UK as most people do not celebrate the occasion.
Meanwhile, tourism receipts have been rising steadily in Thailand, with figures from Euromonitor International showing they increased from £8.64 billion in 2006 to £12.72 billion in 2010.
