Follow locals 'for authentic Caribbean experience'

Brits taking all-inclusive Caribbean holidays will have a more authentic break if they pick up tips from locals, it has been claimed.

Nadine Hallak, spokesperson for Cheapflights.co.uk, said that in order to soak up some culture holidaymakers should ask people who live and work on the island where they go to eat and shop.

"At first, some locals will be reluctant to send tourists to their local hangouts but if you insist that you want to go where they go, they'll be happy to show you and you'll be in for an authentic treat," she commented.

Ms Hallak added that the Caribbean is an excellent choice for all-inclusive family holidays, as most hotels cater for kids and have babysitting services.

A poll carried out earlier this year by Wanderlust and the Association of Independent Tour Operators revealed that 81 per cent of people plan to spend at least as much on their 2010 holidays as they did last year.
