Explore Nice's Old Town during holidays in France
Exploring Nice's Old Town is one of the most fun and fulfilling experiences on offer to people visiting the city during
holidays in the south of France, according to the local tourist board.
Jessika Bettan, marketing attache at the Nice Convention and Visitors Bureau, said that travellers who are coming to the destination for the first time "really need to visit the Old Town".
She pointed out that the area provides an insight into the fascinating culture and history of the city, which was independent until 1860 and therefore has its own distinctive character and language.
"The Old Town with the little narrow streets, the houses are all painted yellow and red, and with the sunlight shining it really brings everything to life," said Ms Bettan.
"Every day we have a food and vegetable market and a flower market, except on Mondays when we have an antique market. It makes it a very lively place all year long."
Britons planning
summer holidays in southern France this year can also explore historic and culturally rich cities such as Marseille and Avignon.
