Eurozone 'is best bet for holidays'

Brits concerned about the threat of strikes and delays caused by the volcanic ash cloud should consider taking a break in the eurozone this year, it has been claimed.

According to foreign exchange provider CaxtonFX, a holiday to Spain could be the ideal option for people who do not want to go too far away from home.

Currency analyst Duncan Higgins said the eurozone is the best place for British families to enjoy a break this summer.

"The pound is at its strongest point against the euro since August of last year. By heading to the continent you'll be getting more euros for your pounds," he commented.

To get as much bang for their buck as possible, holidaymakers should plan ahead and buy their currency in advance, CaxtonFX advised.

According to the latest American Express Global Foreign Exchange Services Currency Index, demand for euros has increased over the last year, suggesting that people are feeling more confident about taking holidays to Spain and elsewhere.
