Enjoy summer 2011 holidays in Australia
Brits planning summer 2011
holidays in Australia will be glad to hear that the country's Northern Territory, the real outback, has hundreds of annual events to watch or participate in.
Those planning all-inclusive holidays in the country may want to add a visit to the outback on their itineraries in order to enjoy everything from quirky sporting events to Aboriginal heritage celebrations.
One of those worth checking out is the Merrepen Arts Festival in June, an annual event held in the friendly community of Nauiyu, 240 kilometres south-west of Darwin.
Art sales and auctions, traditional music and dance, bush tucker tasting and a football and sporting carnival are some of the treats awaiting visitors, who will also have an opportunity to see the Daly River.
Meanwhile, a celebration of indigenous practices and traditions, including dancing, singing and art, can be enjoyed during the Garma Festival, which takes place in August in north-east Arnhem Land.
