Enjoy some 'gourmet delights' on an Algarve holiday

People with a passion for food could be tempted to arrange last minute holidays in the Algarve this month to be part of a gastronomic celebration in the region.

The first ever Algarve Chefs Week will run from May 14th to 21st and will serve up a range of "gourmet delights", according to the local tourist board.

Travellers catching flights to Faro will be among the first to sample culinary offerings from head chefs representing the region's five-star hotels, who will be providing local delicacies at the city's international airport on May 14th.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to try foods from a range of bespoke menus being developed by the experts, which will be available daily from 19:30 to 22:30 local time.

The Hilton Vilamoura hotel's head chef Stephan Kuehlwetter is among those taking part in the initiative, along with Luis Correai from the Lake Resort, Fabien Martinez from Sheraton Pine Cliffs and others.

Event spokesman Mario Candeias said: "Algarve Chefs Week will now be a major event on the Algarve cuisine calendar, perfectly showcasing the fantastic produce, talent and ambience of Europe's most famous secret and ensuring a unique experience is delivered to each and every visitor."
