Cyprus set to welcome Britons on winter holidays to the sun
The number of Britons taking
cheap holidays in Cyprus may rise as tourism officials there predict a busy 2012.
According to the Cyprus Tourism Organisation, the steady increase in international visitors seen over the first nine months of 2011 is set to carry on into the next year.
Indeed, the body's acting director general Lefkos Fylaktides has expressed his confidence that even the winter months - traditionally a slower time of the year for the tourism industry everywhere - is likely to be busy as visitors book
package holidays to Cyprus in search of some much-needed sunshine.
Commenting on the findings, the industry chief was quoted by the Cypriot Famagusta Gazette as explaining that, on the back of the recent success of promotional activities carried out in the UK, Britons are likely to be among the most likely to book
flights and head over to this part of the Mediterranean for a winter break.
Among the highlights of package holidays to Cyprus are the natural beauty of the Akamas Natural Park and the traditional villages nestling in the Troodos Mountains, not to mention the numerous sites of archaeological importance.
