Visit this enormous stage where Roman Gladiators used to battle it out in front of the emperor. Imagine yourself fighting with tigers in this historical theatre and take a while to admire the architecture, in particular the 80 arched entrances through which 55,000 attendees would race in to watch the bloodshed ensue. Great for family holidays the adventure and excitement of the Colosseum will bring a smile to any age!
Located in the fabulous Piazza di Spagna, you will find the famous Spanish Steps, leading elegantly down from the church of Trinità dei Monti. Notably the widest staircase in Europe, although not an amazing accolade, it is worthy of a visit, particularly in Spring when they are adorned with tubs of azaleas’ and provide the perfect Kodak moment for that Roman souvenir.
